Lackawanna County rules and conditions that change your rental
- The Lackawanna County Heritage Fair ran June 4 to 7 in 2026 at Montage Mountain.Early June is a busy week in the Moosic area. Book graduation and team events near Montage early.
- County parks include McDade, Aylesworth, Covington, and Merli-Sarnoski. Pavilions are reserved through the county parks department.Reserve the pavilion first, then ask the parks staff where our truck may set a unit.
- At Wilkes-Barre/Scranton airport, about 41 percent of Christmas days have an inch or more of snow cover.December events and job sites should plan for snow. Keep a plowed path to the unit so service visits stay on schedule.
- Lackawanna County has no county health department. The PA Department of Agriculture licenses temporary food stands at local fairs and festivals.Food vendors need their own warm-water handwashing setup. Our foot-pump hand wash stations serve guests at the restrooms.
- PennDOT District 4 maintains state roads in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne, and Wyoming Counties.Routes like US-6, US-11, and PA-307 are state highways. Shoulder placement there needs PennDOT approval.Source: PennDOT — District 4
Do you need a permit to put a porta potty on the street in Lackawanna County?
Scranton and each borough set their own rules for street use. US-6, US-11, and other state routes require a PennDOT highway occupancy permit. We advise using a driveway, side yard, or private lot instead. Call your city, borough, or township office to confirm before a unit goes on any street.
Rules for Lackawanna County come from the City of Scranton or your borough/township office; PennDOT District 4 for state routes; check with that office before using public land.
Where should a porta potty go on a Lackawanna County property?
We need level, firm ground within about 15 feet of truck parking. Many Scranton and Dunmore homes sit on steep streets with tight driveways. A flat spot at the bottom of the drive often works best. In the Abingtons, larger lots usually leave room beside the garage.
- On steep Scranton hillsides like the Hill Section, pick a spot the truck can reach without backing up a grade.
- Double-block streets in Dunmore and Old Forge may have rear alleys; check before choosing the curb.
- In rural Madison and Greenfield Townships, keep units away from wells and septic fields.
- Mark the spot with a cone if no one will be home.

How does the Scranton area climate affect a porta potty rental?
Lackawanna County winters are long, and snow often sits on the ground through the holidays. In Lackawanna County, units carry non-toxic antifreeze from November through March. Hilly streets ice over quickly, so keep the path to the unit sanded. Summer is mild, but shade still helps keep event units fresh.
Porta potty rental questions in Lackawanna County
Can you deliver a porta potty to McDade Park for a party?
We deliver to McDade Park once your pavilion is reserved with the county parks department. Ask the staff where a truck may stop near your pavilion. Give us that spot and the date. Units arrive clean and stocked, so a one-day party needs no service visit.
How far ahead should I book for an event in Scranton?
Scranton is about 75 minutes from our yard, so book at least a few days ahead. Count on next-day as the soonest sure option. Lackawanna County weekend events get a Thursday or Friday drop-off and a Monday pickup. The extra days are free, which gives you room if plans shift.
Do you serve construction sites in Dickson City and Olyphant?
We serve job sites throughout the mid-valley, including Dickson City and Olyphant. Weekly pumping, cleaning, and restocking come with every construction rental. In Lackawanna County, billing runs on a 28-day cycle. For Lackawanna County jobs, call when the job ends to schedule pickup, or the rental renews.
What if my Scranton street is too steep for a truck?
Steep streets are common in Scranton, and drivers work with them every week. Pick the flattest spot the truck can reach. It must sit within about 15 feet of where the truck parks. Send us a photo of the street and lot so we can check access first.
Can you bring units to a Carbondale church festival?
Carbondale sits at the north end of the county, a little past Scranton. We can supply standard and wheelchair-accessible units plus hand wash stations. Plan at least one accessible unit for any public event. Food stands need their own warm-water handwashing under state licensing rules.
Will a deluxe flushing unit work in winter in the Abingtons?
Deluxe flushing units run through winter with non-toxic antifreeze from November through March. The sink and flush work the same way. Keep snow cleared from the door and path. Cold weather does not change your weekly service schedule on long-term rentals.
