Delivery and timing
Can I get a porta potty delivered today in Allentown?
Same-day delivery is available across Allentown and the Lehigh Valley when you call (610) 228-7980 by 12 noon, Monday through Saturday, and a unit is in the yard. Expect a same-day unit in the afternoon.
Can you deliver a porta potty tomorrow?
Next-day delivery is the most common order. Call or send the form by the end of the business day, and the unit goes on the next morning's route.
Is there a cutoff time to order for next-day delivery?
Orders placed by 7 p.m. Monday through Friday go on the next day's route. Saturday orders go out Monday, since Sunday is not a delivery day.
Do you deliver porta potties on Saturday?
Saturday deliveries run with fewer trucks. For a Saturday event, Friday delivery is the safer choice and costs nothing extra.
Do you deliver or pick up on Sunday?
Our trucks do not run on Sunday. A Sunday event is covered by a Thursday or Friday drop and a Monday pickup at the weekend price.
If my party is Saturday, when will the porta potty be dropped off?
A Saturday party gets delivery on Thursday or Friday and pickup on Monday. The extra days are part of the weekend price.
Can you deliver the morning of my event instead of the day before?
Morning-of delivery can be requested but not promised, because routes are planned by area. The business day before is the safe plan.
What time will the driver show up?
Deliveries run in a daytime window, roughly 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. About half an hour out, the driver phones you.
Will the driver call before he arrives?
Every driver calls or texts about 30 minutes ahead. Answer that call if you need to open a gate or move a car.
Does someone have to be home for porta potty delivery?
Nobody needs to be home. Mark the spot with a cone or ribbon, open the gate or share the code. Expect a heads-up call about half an hour before arrival.
Do I need to be home for pickup?
Pickup does not need anyone home. Leave the path clear and the gate open. The driver picks it up on the scheduled day.
How far in advance should I book a porta potty?
Book standard units 3 to 7 days ahead for most dates. Book 2 to 4 weeks ahead for graduation season, July 4th and Labor Day weekends, and 4 to 8 weeks ahead for restroom trailers.
Are porta potties booked up for the 4th of July weekend?
Holiday weekends sell out first. Call as early as June to hold units for July 4th week; delivery often moves to Wednesday or Thursday that week.
My porta potty company cancelled on me. Can you deliver tomorrow?
Call the yard right away. If units are in stock, we'll put you on tomorrow's route, or today's if you call by noon.
Where is your yard?
Every unit leaves our yard at 808 N Ellsworth St, Allentown, PA 18109, on the East Side of the city.
Are you a local company or a call center?
Alan Rental Works is a local Allentown company owned by Alan. The phone is answered at the yard, and our own drivers deliver and service the units.
Do you deliver to rural areas outside the Lehigh Valley?
Rural addresses in nearby counties are on our scheduled routes. Farther addresses add a distance fee and may need 1 to 2 business days.
Can you deliver to a park or jobsite with no street address?
Send a map pin, the nearest cross street or a landmark like a pavilion number. The driver calls to confirm the exact spot.
Pricing, fees and billing
How much does it cost to rent a porta potty for one day?
A one-day event rental costs the same as a weekend rental, starting at $249 for a standard unit in Allentown with delivery and pickup included. Pennsylvania's 6% sales tax is extra.
How much is a porta potty for a weekend party?
A standard weekend unit starts at $249 inside Allentown, delivered Thursday or Friday and picked up Monday. Deluxe flushing units start at $349.
How much is a porta potty per month for a construction site?
A standard jobsite unit starts at $199 per 28-day cycle with weekly service, plus a one-time $75 delivery and pickup fee in the Lehigh Valley.
Is delivery and pickup included in the price?
Event prices include delivery and pickup inside Allentown. Jobsite rentals charge one delivery and pickup fee on the first cycle only.
Is the delivery fee per unit or for the whole order?
One delivery and pickup fee covers the whole order to one address, whether it's 1 unit or 5.
Is there a separate fee to pick up the porta potty?
Pickup is part of the one delivery and pickup fee. There is no second trip charge.
Do you charge by the hour or by the day?
Porta potties are priced by the rental period: the event, the week, or the 28-day cycle. There are no hourly rates.
Do I pay for the whole week if I only need it 3 days?
A 3-day need is priced at the event rate, not a week. The weekly rate only applies to rentals of 4 to 7 days.
Why do you need my address to give a price?
Price depends on distance from the yard. An Allentown address and a Scranton address need different drive times, so the ZIP sets the delivery line.
Is there a fuel surcharge or card fee?
Our quote shows every line before you pay. If a line isn't on the quote, it isn't on the bill.
Is sales tax included in the price?
Starting prices are before tax. Pennsylvania's 6% sales tax is added and shown on the quote.
Is there a discount for renting several units?
Multi-unit orders share one delivery fee, which lowers the cost per unit. Larger orders and full seasons can be quoted as a package.
Do you give discounts to churches or nonprofits?
Call with your event details. Churches, schools and nonprofits with repeat events can ask about package pricing.
Can you email or text me a quote to show my boss or board?
We text or email an itemized quote within about 15 minutes during office hours. Ask how long the quote holds when you get it.
Is my old quote still good?
Prices and stock change with the season. Call and we'll confirm the current price and stock.
Does the monthly price go down after the first month?
Cycle 2 onward costs less, because the delivery and pickup fee is charged only once.
Does a monthly porta potty rental mean 30 days?
Long-term rentals bill every 28 days. The price is the same whether the unit stays 1 day or the full 28.
Units and what's inside
What is the difference between a standard and a deluxe porta potty?
A standard unit has a seat, urinal, paper and sanitizer. A deluxe unit adds a foot-pedal flush, a sink with soap and paper towels, and a mirror.
Do you have porta potties that flush?
Deluxe flushing units, VIP cabins and restroom trailers all flush. The deluxe unit and VIP cabin need no hookups; trailers need a hose and outlet.
Does a flushing porta potty need water or electricity?
The deluxe flushing unit carries its own fresh-water tank and needs no hookups. Restroom trailers need a garden hose and a 110-volt outlet.
Does a standard porta potty have a sink?
A standard unit has a hand sanitizer dispenser but no sink. Add a hand wash station or choose a deluxe unit for a sink.
Does a standard porta potty have hand sanitizer?
Every standard unit has a wall sanitizer dispenser, filled at the yard and refilled at weekly service.
Is there a light inside a porta potty?
Standard units have a translucent roof that lets in daylight. Battery lights can be added for evening events.
How big is a standard porta potty?
Standard units measure roughly 44 in wide by 48 in deep, and 90 in tall. It fits through a 4-foot gate.
How big is a handicap porta potty?
A wheelchair-accessible unit is about 7 feet by 7 feet outside, with a 60-inch turning space inside.
Do you rent wheelchair-accessible porta potties?
Wheelchair-accessible units with ground-level floors and grab bars are in the fleet. Public events should have at least 5% of each cluster accessible, never fewer than 1.
Do you rent hand washing stations by themselves?
Hand wash stations rent alone or with toilets. Each has two basins, foot pumps, soap and towels.
Which costs less: one deluxe unit, or a standard unit with a hand wash station?
For one restroom, the deluxe unit usually costs less than the pair. For 2 or more toilets, standard units with shared stations usually cost less.
How much is a restroom trailer?
A 2-stall restroom trailer starts at $1,800 for a weekend event in Allentown. A 3-stall starts at $2,600. Generators are quoted when needed.
Does a restroom trailer need water and power?
A trailer needs a garden hose within about 100 feet and a 110-volt outlet, ideally on its own circuit. A generator can replace the outlet.
Can a restroom trailer run off a regular outlet without tripping the breaker?
A trailer runs on a standard outlet if nothing else heavy shares the circuit. DJs and caterers on the same circuit can trip it, so we may suggest a generator.
How many people can a 2-stall restroom trailer handle?
A 2-stall trailer serves about 100 guests for an evening event. A 3-stall serves about 175.
Do restroom trailers have air conditioning?
Our trailers have air conditioning and heat, plus lights, mirrors and running water.
Do you have a towable porta potty?
Towable unit trailers are in the fleet for crews that move between sites. Ask about stock when you call.
Can I get a clean, newer unit for a wedding?
Event units are kept apart from jobsite units, and every wedding unit is inspected before it leaves the yard.
What colors do porta potties come in?
Most of our units are blue or gray. Ask on the call if color matters for your photos.
Can the porta potty be locked?
Locks are free: we fit a hasp on request. Leave the key in a lockbox or under the unit for the service tech.
Cleaning and servicing
How often do you clean a construction porta potty?
Jobsite units are serviced once a week, included in the 28-day rate. Twice-weekly service is available for big crews.
What does weekly service include?
The tech pumps the tank, scrubs the seat, urinal, walls and floor, adds fresh deodorizer, and restocks paper and sanitizer.
Do event rentals include cleaning during the rental?
Event units arrive clean and stocked. A 1 to 3 day rental doesn't need mid-event service unless the crowd is large.
Can I get an extra cleaning in the middle of the week?
Extra service visits can be booked with a phone call, usually for the next route day.
Is the porta potty cleaned before it's delivered?
Every unit is pressure-washed, deodorized and stocked at the yard before it goes out.
Is toilet paper included?
Each unit has two rolls when delivered. Jobsite units are restocked at every weekly service.
What keeps a porta potty from smelling?
Blue deodorizer in the tank, a roof vent stack and weekly pumping. Place the door away from windows and the unit in shade if you can.
Will a porta potty smell in August heat?
Heat speeds up odor. Shade, weekly service and an extra visit during heat waves keep it under control.
Can you service a porta potty I already own?
Customer-owned units on sites we already route past can be pumped and cleaned. Call to check your route day.
Can I service the porta potty less often to save money?
Weekly is the minimum on long-term rentals. A tank left longer fills up and becomes unusable.
Placement and access
Where should I put the porta potty in my yard?
Pick flat, firm ground within about 15 feet of where the truck parks, with the door facing away from windows.
Does the porta potty need to be on level ground?
Level is best. A mild slope is fine, but a steep one makes the unit rock and the door swing open.
Is grass OK for a porta potty?
Grass works when it's dry and firm. After heavy rain, a driveway or gravel spot is safer for the truck and the unit.
Can you put it in my backyard?
A backyard spot works if the path from the truck is under about 15 feet and the gate is at least 4 feet wide.
How far from the truck can the driver move the unit?
Drivers hand-truck units about 15 feet from where the truck parks. Longer carries depend on the path.
Will the truck damage my lawn or driveway?
Drivers stay on pavement when they can. Soft lawns and pavers can be marked; tell us about them on the call.
Do I need plywood under the porta potty?
Plywood isn't needed on firm ground. On soft soil, a plywood base helps stop sinking.
Can I move the porta potty after it's delivered?
Please don't move it with waste inside. Call and the driver or tech will reset it.
How do I mark the spot for the driver?
Use a cone, a flag, chalk or a ribbon, and tell us where it is when you book.
Do you need my gate code?
If the spot is behind a gate, text the code or leave the gate open on delivery day.
Do I need a permit to put a porta potty on the street?
A unit on private property needs no permit. A unit on a street or sidewalk may need a city permit; check your city office.
Can the porta potty sit on the sidewalk?
Most cities, including Allentown, limit sidewalk obstructions. Keep the unit on private property or get a curb permit.
Events, parties and weddings
How many porta potties do I need for 100 guests?
For a 5 to 8 hour party, 100 guests need 3 standard units, or 4 with alcohol. Add 2 hand wash stations if food is served.
Will one porta potty cover a 40-person party?
One standard unit covers 40 guests for an event of up to 4 hours. For longer events with drinks, rent two.

A 50-guest wedding with dinner needs 2 deluxe units or a VIP cabin plus 1 deluxe unit, and 1 hand wash station.
How many porta potties for a 300-person concert lasting 2 hours?
A 2-hour concert of 300 needs 6 standard units, or 8 with a beer stand, plus at least 1 accessible unit.
Do I need a porta potty for a backyard graduation party?
Most grad parties of 40 or more rent one unit to keep guests out of the house and protect the septic system.
Should I rent a porta potty so guests don't use my house bathroom?
Keeping guests out of the house is the top reason hosts rent. It protects floors, plumbing and privacy.
Do I need a porta potty if my park permit doesn't include restrooms?
If the park restrooms are closed or too far, rent units. Ask the park office where units may be placed.
Do I need a porta potty if my house has an old septic system?
A big party can overload an old septic system. A rented unit takes that load off the tank.
Can I get a porta potty for a block party?
Get the street permit first, then call us. Units go on the curb lane or a driveway, not the sidewalk.
What if it rains and we cancel the event?
Cancel at least 24 business hours before delivery for a full refund. After delivery, the rental is not refundable.
Can I get two units with one accessible?
Mixed orders are common. Swap any standard unit for an accessible unit while stock lasts.
Construction, remodels and long-term
Do I need a porta potty for contractors working on my house?
Many contractors require one so crews don't use the house. One unit with weekly service covers a crew of up to 10.
How many porta potties does OSHA require on a jobsite?
OSHA Table D-1 requires 1 toilet for 20 or fewer workers, then 1 seat and 1 urinal per 40 workers. We recommend 1 unit per 10 workers for weekly service.
Can I rent month to month until the plumbing is in?
Long-term rentals renew every 28 days until you call. There's no contract.

How much notice do you need for pickup?
Call at least one business day ahead.

Your crane crew can lift units with a lifting frame. Service happens at ground level or a reachable floor.
Can I rent a porta potty and a dumpster together?
Alan Rental Works rents restrooms only. Your dumpster company can deliver on the same day if you coordinate.
Payment, cancellation and terms
Do you require a deposit?
A deposit isn't required. The card is charged at booking for the first rental period.
When do I pay: before delivery or after?
Payment is taken at booking, before delivery. On long-term rentals, the card is charged as each 28-day cycle begins.
Can I pay cash or by check?
We take credit and debit cards. Business accounts can ask about invoicing.
Can I pay through a link instead of reading my card over the phone?
We text or email a secure payment link with the quote.
Can someone else pay for my rental?
Send the payment link to whoever is paying, such as a group treasurer or employer.
Do I have to sign a rental agreement?
Each order has short rental terms you accept with payment. Read them on our rental terms page.
What is your cancellation policy?
A full refund applies when you cancel 24 or more business hours before delivery. Same-day orders can't be cancelled once the truck leaves.
Can I change the date after booking?
Date changes are free up to 24 business hours before delivery, as long as stock allows.
Can I extend my rental?
Call before the pickup date. Extra time is billed at the weekly or 28-day rate.
Who is responsible if the unit is damaged?
The renter is responsible for damage beyond normal use, like fire, vandalism or tipping. Normal wear is on us.
What if strangers use the porta potty overnight?
Add a free hasp lock, or place the unit behind a fence or gate.
How do I know you're legit if I pay first?
Call the yard at (610) 228-7980 and talk to a person. Every order gets a written, itemized quote.
Winter and weather
Can you rent porta potties in winter?
Units run all winter. From November through March they get non-toxic antifreeze so the tank doesn't freeze.
Do hand wash stations freeze in winter?
They can freeze overnight below 32°F. Winter sites often use sanitizer instead, or keep the station in a heated space.
What happens after a snowstorm?
Service may shift a day while roads are cleared. Shovel a path to the unit so the tech can reach it.
Can a porta potty blow over in the wind?
Units on open, windy lots can be staked or strapped. Ask on the call if your site is exposed.
