How many porta potties does a festival need?
A festival needs 1 standard unit per 40 guests on site at peak for a 5 to 8 hour day. Add 1 unit for every 4 when beer or wine is sold. Add 1 hand wash station per 2 toilets near food. At least 5 percent of each cluster, and never fewer than 1, must be wheelchair-accessible.
| Peak crowd | Toilets (5–8 hrs) | + alcohol | Accessible (min.) | Hand wash |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 500 | 13 | 16 | 1 | 8 |
| 1,000 | 25 | 31 | 2 | 16 |
| 2,500 | 63 | 78 | 4 | 39 |
| 5,000 | 125 | 156 | 8 | 78 |
Accessibility count source: 2010 ADA Standards, section 213.2. Your event permit may require more; confirm with the permitting office.
How should festival clusters be laid out?
Festival restrooms work best in clusters of 6 to 12 units at each crowd anchor: the main stage, the food court and the parking entrance. Place clusters 100 to 200 feet apart so no guest walks more than a few minutes. Put accessible units at the cluster end nearest the paved path.
- Leave a truck lane to every cluster for service.
- Light clusters for evening sets.
- Put hand wash stations at the cluster exit.
How are festival units serviced during a multi-day event?
Multi-day festival units are pumped, cleaned and restocked between days, usually early morning before gates open. Big single-day crowds can add a mid-day service run. The service plan goes on the quote, so you know the number of visits up front.
What do festival organizers need to send us?
Send a site map, gate times, the expected peak crowd per day, food and alcohol areas, and any permit conditions on restroom counts. We'll mark cluster spots on your map and return a count for each.
Festival porta potty questions
How far ahead should a festival book porta potties?
Book at least 6 to 8 weeks ahead for summer festivals. Large counts may need units pulled from multiple routes.
Do you supply accessible units for public festivals?
Accessible units are part of every festival order. We size them at 5 percent of each cluster, never fewer than 1.
Can units be serviced overnight between festival days?
Service runs early in the morning before gates open. Overnight service can be quoted for 24-hour events.
Do you provide hand sanitizer stands?
Hand wash stations with soap and water are standard. Sanitizer stands can be added near food lines.
Can you supply restroom trailers for VIP areas?
A 2-stall trailer or VIP cabin can serve backstage and VIP tents if water and power are nearby.
Who places the units on the festival grounds?
Our drivers place each unit to your site map. Mark cluster spots with flags or paint before set-up day.
